Meet Barack and Michelle Obama’s Daughters – One Resembles Her Dad, While the Other Is Her Mom’s Lookalike

Meet Barack and Michelle Obama’s 2 Daughters – One Looks ‘Like Her Dad,’ While the Other Is a ‘Mini’ Version of Her Mom

The first lady and former president of the United States are now living as empty nesters. Over the years, their kids have developed a strong bond, which they have now extended by moving in together.

One of Michelle and Barack Obama’s two daughters, according to internet fans, looks “like her dad,” while the other is a “mini” version of her mother. Parents have praised Malia and Sasha Obama, who are now in their 20s.

The close bond between the siblings has helped them navigate life in the spotlight. Both were in college when the epidemic brought them home, Malia at age 22 and Sasha at age 19, almost four years after their father’s presidency ended.

In a joint interview in November 2020, Barack revealed, “Malia and Sasha have been with us almost continuously since March, with just a few breaks,”

The Obamas enjoyed the unexpected time together with their girls back home. According to Barack, they were quite happy when their kids joined them for supper every night and enjoyed playing games and watching movies.

The sisters grew closer as they grew older. “I think part of what’s been also wonderful is seeing Malia and Sasha become such great friends,” said Barack.

Their father claims that although though they were three years apart, their early years were filled with the typical sibling conflicts, such as borrowing clothes and having lighthearted arguments.

As young adults, they decided to live together, and their relationship has only gotten stronger. Michelle acknowledged in a November 2022 interview that she controlled her joy when Malia and Sasha made the decision to live together because she didn’t want to sway their choice.

“Well, that’s interesting that you guys are going to try living together,” she said nonchalantly. Let’s see how it turns out. As she put it, “It’s like the one thing you want for them.” She was secretly thankful that her girls found solace in one another.

After settling into their Los Angeles flat, the sisters used inexpensive items from Ikea and yard sales to decorate. Their mother is still careful about how much she divulges about their life, even though their new chapter as roommates has strengthened their bond.

In response to a question about the most painful truth she disclosed in her book “The Light We Carry,” Michelle said she has always been honest. “It is what it is,” she stated, but she acknowledged that talking about parenthood was difficult.

The devoted parent was careful about how much she disclosed in order to preserve Malia and Sasha’s privacy, stating that since they weren’t looking for attention, it was crucial to keep information about their life and exposure to the public to a minimum.

Michelle made it clear that the purpose of their presence was to benefit others, and her daughters read portions concerning them before to publication. She did, however, reiterate the value of limits, claiming that they were not well-known on social media and that they did not pursue paparazzi attention because of her book.

Despite Malia and Sasha continuing to forge their own paths, the close-knit family dynamic of the Obamas endures.

Malia: A Creative Powerhouse in Television and Film

In July 1998, Michelle and Barack had their first daughter. In July 2024, her father sent her, who is now 26 years old, a birthday tribute.

Barack posted a vintage image of them holding hands on Instagram along with the caption, “Happy birthday, Malia. Seeing you develop into the remarkable woman you are today and the fact that you are still ready to hold your dad’s hand in public is one of the biggest pleasures of my life.”

Malia’s sensitive personality, which her parents loved in her as a child, has carried over into adulthood. Known as “wise and thoughtful,” she took drama lessons, collected keychains, and demonstrated independence early on by making her own bed and setting her own alarm before first grade.

In a 2008 interview, Barack remarked, “My 9-year-old is always coming up with remarkable things,” describing how his daughters’ generosity had brought him to tears.

He remembered when Malia, who was six at the time, said, “Daddy, are we rich?” She said, “Well, that’s good because I don’t want to be really rich,” after he clarified that they were prosperous but not particularly affluent. I believe I wish to lead a modest life. “Where did she come up with that?” he wondered after hearing her statements.

Malia’s independence persisted throughout her early adulthood. After a gap year, she intended to enroll at Harvard after graduating from Sidwell Friends School in June 2016 at the age of 18. “They’re ready to get out, just out from their parents’ house,” Barack said as the Obamas were set to leave the White House. However, Malia is leaving for college. She is an adult woman.

After graduating from college, Malia followed her passion for storytelling by entering the entertainment industry. She became a writer and director after earning her Harvard degree in 2021. She served as the director of the 2023 short play “The Heart.”

The Chicago native’s talents to a well-known streaming series also brought attention to her television work. She co-wrote “Girl, Bye,” the fifth episode of the Prime Video series “Swarm,” which was co-written by Janine Nabers and Donald Glover. This was her first TV writing gig.

The episode was dubbed “probably one of the wildest” by showrunner Nabers, who also hailed Malia as “an incredible writer” with daring and amusing ideas. She worked as a production assistant on “Extant” and as an intern on “Girls” before to joining “Swarm.”

She later worked alongside Stephen Glover, Ibra Ake, and other industry veterans as a staff writer for the series after being hired by Glover. Malia’s participation in the “Swarm” writers’ room gave the show’s narrative a new angle. Nabers appreciated her perspective because the characters in the book are in their 20s.

The showrunner stated in an interview that “she’s a very professional person,” highlighting the team’s desire to provide her with the opportunity to pursue television writing. The Chicago native was able to hone her abilities and get expertise in a dynamic creative setting thanks to the opportunity.

When Malia won the New Generation prize for “The Heart” at the Festival de Deauville in September 2024, her filmmaking brought her prominence on a global scale. Online users commented on her success and appearance as she walked the red carpet.

One person commented, “She’s her dad’s twin, but her mother is written all over her… she’s amazing.” Others were astonished by how much she resembled her parents. Others said, “Looks just like her dad,” highlighting her resemblance to Barack. Amazingly gorgeous” and “OMG. She resembles Barack exactly.

And someone else said, “She’s just like her dad omg.” In the meantime, someone said, “She is such an exact combination of her parents,” highlighting how she reflects both of them.

Sasha accepted her own path and gained the same amount of affection and respect from her family that Malia did as she proceeded to advance in the entertainment sector.

Sasha: Accepting Self-Sufficiency and Achievement

In June 2001, Barack and Michelle had their second daughter. In June 2022, Barack posted a tribute and a vintage picture of him holding her as a baby to commemorate her 21st birthday.

“Sasha, happy birthday! I’ve enjoyed seeing you develop into the wise, lovely, and compassionate young lady you are today. And you will always be my baby girl, regardless of your age. He wrote, “Look at those cheeks!”

The Obama family has always laughed because of Sasha’s exuberant nature. According to Barack’s interview, she is “full of energy and the comedian in the family.”

He found it particularly memorable when she jokingly objected to an early wake-up. Michelle urged them to prepare for school by turning on the lights, and Sasha, who was still half sleeping, exclaimed, “Awww, Mommy, we are peace!” She probably meant serene, the father of two said, adding that he and his wife later used the term anytime they desired some quiet time.

Sasha’s early years were also a whirlwind of academics, athletics, and the arts. She took gymnastics and tap dance classes, played basketball, and studied tennis and piano with Malia.

Sasha started college at the University of Michigan in 2019 after graduating from Sidwell Friends School, initially taking classes virtually because of the COVID-19 epidemic. Later, while continuing to provide virtual options, the school reopened for in-person instruction.

She achieved yet another significant accomplishment by May 2023, graduating from the University of Southern California with a degree in sociology. Malia, Michelle, and Barack were present to commemorate her accomplishment.

Online commenters pointed out that she looked a lot like her mother in a birthday tribute photo the following year. The strong resemblance was noted by many, with one commenter saying, “So gorgeous like her mummy [sic].” “I’m stuck on watching her grow up in front of my eyes!!!!! beautiful inside and out!!!” said another, and “Wow!!” said another. Sasha is just as gorgeous as her mother.

Others expressed their admiration, adding, “She’s absolutely stunning like her mother.” Another exclaimed in amazement, “Oh my god! She has transformed into a stunning woman. In the words of another, “She’s a mini you.”

Michelle Obama has loved the pleasure of seeing her daughters grow up over the years. On “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” she said that hanging out with them is “fun” and referred to them as “amazing young women.”
