Over the course of the previous year, Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were seen out in public for the first time in twenty years, just prior to the announcement of their passing.
On February 26, the bodies of the Superman actor, who was 95 years old, and Arakawa, who was 63 years old, were discovered at their home in New Mexico, along with their dog.
According to a statement released by Santa Fe County, “We are able to confirm that both Gene Hackman and his wife were discovered dead at their residence on Sunset Trail on Wednesday afternoon.”
“This is an ongoing investigation; however, at this time, we do not believe that any kind of criminal activity played a role in the incident.”
The month of March marked the first time that Hackman and his wife appeared in public together after a period of 21 years.
Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is the location where the couple, who have been married since 1991, may be seen exiting the establishment.
It was observed that the two-time Oscar winner was clinging to the arm of his wife while using the other hand to rely on his cane.
