Gene Hackman was ‘dead for nine days’ before being discovered ‘decomposing’
In an effort to provide a probable timeline for the killings of Gene Hackman and Betsy Arakawa, the Santa Fe Sheriff has proposed something.
The bodies of Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa, who were discovered dead in their mansion in Santa Fe on Wednesday (February 26), had most likely been there for more than a week before they were discovered.

Following a lengthy career that spanned over seventy films, the actor, who was 95 years old at the time of his retirement, made his home in New Mexico, United States of America.
Initially, the Sheriff of Santa Fe County, Adan Mendoza, made the following statement: “We can confirm that both Gene Hackman and his wife were found deceased Wednesday afternoon at their residence on Sunset Trail.” He went on to say that they did not believe that any form of criminal activity played a role in the deaths of both individuals.
Mummified bodies of the couple were discovered in separate rooms within their residence.
As to the search warrant that was acquired by the Daily Mail, Hackman was discovered in a’mudroom’ with his sunglasses and cane lying on the floor. On the other hand, Arakawa was discovered in the bathroom with bloating on her face and mummification in her hands and feet.

The authorities have indicated that the case is “suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation.” This is due to the fact that the cause of death is now unknown.
In a news conference that took place yesterday (February 28), Sheriff Mendoza disclosed that the most recent incident recorded by Hackman’s pacemaker occurred on February 17th. Additionally, he confirmed that there was no carbon monoxide present in either of their bodies.
He concluded by saying: “According to the pathologist, I think that is a very good assumption, that that was his last day of life.”
If this is the case, then the 95-year-old individual may have been lying in a state of death for a period of nine days prior to their discovery.
In the past, he had provided the following explanation during an appearance on the Today show on Friday morning: “Even with the assistance of the office of the medical investigator, it is extremely challenging to construct a detailed timeline.”
It appeared — it looks that they had been deceased for several days, even up to a couple of weeks, based only on their body and other evidence that was found on the body.

The fact that none of them had carbon monoxide in their bodies demonstrates that Elizabeth Jean Hackman, the actor’s daughter, was wrong when she suggested that the two of them had perished as a result of a leak.
Even though it was first discovered that there were “no signs of a gas leak,” Santa Fe Fire Chief Brian Moya had not ruled it out as a possible cause of death until the investigation was conducted.
The front door was left open and unlocked when they were found, and one of their three dogs had also passed away at the time of the discovery.
It was further disclosed by the Sheriff of Santa Fe that the tablets that were discovered next to Arakawa’s body in the toilet where she was discovered were’very important evidence’. The information was then given to a medical investigator so that they could learn more about the situation.

Therefore, we are looking into that particular medicine as well as any other pharmaceuticals that may have been present in the residence. According to him, “that is something that should be of concern.”
Even though he was “pretty confident” that there was no foul play involved, he continued by saying, “But of course, we’re not ruling anything out from the possibility.”
Both of the maintenance workers who discovered the high-profile couple stated that they had not seen the couple for a period of two weeks prior to their discovery.
