Betrayed by My Fiancé, I Found an Unexpected Ally for the Perfect Payback

My Fiancé Cheated On Me, So I Teamed up with His Lover’s Husband for Ultimate Revenge — Story of the Day

Before I discovered a hotel reservation for two, I believed that my life with Mark was ideal. I met Daniel in Spain, and his wife was likewise concealing secrets. We plotted our retaliation together, but we were both taken aback by what transpired next.

The wedding magazines on the coffee table drew my blank attention as I sat on the couch. Mark and I had been talking about venues and honeymoon spots only previous week. It was all intended to be ideal. Assumed to be. Then, however, something changed.

“Spain again?” Mark had mentioned his trip in passing, and I had asked him. “Didn’t you just get back?”

Without looking at me, he shrugged. “Work, sweetie. You are aware of the situation.

I was left there, bored to death, as he took off on his business trip that evening. I had previously occupied myself as much as possible.

We used to speak on the phone five or six times a day on these trips. However, the frequency and length of the phone calls decreased. I had been waiting for my phone to ring lately while I stared at it.

When I was clearing out my inbox that evening, I saw the two-person hotel reservation. I initially chuckled, speculating that perhaps Mark had unintentionally booked his hotel in Spain using our vacation schedule.

But when I read through the specifics, my heart fell. Strawberries with champagne. I had a strawberry allergy!

What does it signify? In Spain, he is not alone! He’s with someone else. She might be enjoying those strawberries right now!

I paced back and forth, clutching my phone, whispering, “No, this can’t be right.”

In my hand, the email felt like a hot coal. I knew in my heart. My stomach began to grow heavier. I picked up my phone and dialed my best buddy Claire.

She continued, “You need to breathe,” but her voice was anything but serene.

“Claire, I must travel to Spain. My voice trembled as I said, “I have to see for myself.”

Reminding me, “You hate flying,”

I responded, “Watching my life fall apart from here is worse,” as I quickly booked the following ticket.

From the beginning, the flight to Spain was a nightmare. The air seemed stuffy, my seat was too small, and my mind was racing with all the conceivable outcomes.

And what if Mark really is sorry? What if he asks for my forgiveness? What if, worse yet, he doesn’t give a damn?

I was trying to divert my attention by staring out the window when a chilly splash struck my lap. Tomato liquid was seeping into my jeans as I looked down. Excellent. It was exactly what I needed.

“Oh my God, I’m so sorry!” The man beside me began fumbling with napkins, his eyes wild with horror. “I promise I didn’t intend to… I’m simply I’m just incredibly awkward.”

“It’s fine,” I whispered as I wiped away the red stain.

These things do happen, of course. Is there anything else that could go wrong today?

“Allow me to compensate you. Why don’t I get us a drink? Unless you want to spend the remainder of the journey sitting in awkward silence with liquid all over your lap.

All the same, I couldn’t help but giggle. “Of course, why not? It might be saved with a drink.

“I’m Daniel, by the way,” he replied, smiling and extending his hand. “And I promise, I’m usually better with tomato juice.”

“Rebecca. Additionally, it’s not the worst thing that may happen today, so don’t worry.”

“Oh? Well, I’m intrigued now.

I took a sip of my drink and groaned.

“I’m traveling to Spain in order to face my fiancé. He’s most likely cheating on me.

“Oh no. That’s a little tough.

“Yes. I discovered a two-person hotel reservation. You know, dinner, champagne, etc.”

“Ouch,” Daniel shook his head and winced. “And here I thought spilling juice on you was bad.”

“Honestly, it kind of fits the day I’ve been having.”

Daniel swirled his drink while leaning back in his chair. “All right, get this. To visit my wife, I’m taking a plane to Spain. who, surprisingly, may be unfaithful to me as well.”

I blinked, momentarily surprised, and then I started laughing. “You’re kidding, right?”

“I wish I was. However, I’m not. Doesn’t it seem like a cosmic joke gone wrong? On the same airplane are two deceived souls.

“What are the odds of us sitting next to each other?”

Daniel said, “Pretty slim, I’d say,” as he lifted his cola glass. “To bad luck and strange coincidences?”

I gave his glass a clink. “And to being covered in tomato juice.”

The tomato juice episode was already forgotten by the time we touched down. Both of us were thinking about more important things. Daniel turned to face me as we picked up our things and made our way to the exit.

“Well… “Where are you staying?”

“It’s here.” I turned on my phone’s GPS.

“Me too.”

I shook my head and chuckled once more. “You are, of course. What comes next? We have been given the same room.

That’s exactly what happened, as it turned out. The exhausted desk staff offered us a shared room after apologizing excessively for the hotel’s overbooking.

I was honestly too intrigued about what would happen next and too tired to protest. For a time, we both stood there in stunned silence.

“Well, I guess it’s just another chapter in this weird story.”

Daniel grinned. “Looks like fate wants us to be roommates.”

We decided that we would share the room. What were the chances? In a foreign nation, two strangers who had both been deceived remained together. It was ridiculous. But that day was the same as everything else.

We both gave each other space as we sat down in the room. It was a strange circumstance. We chose to eat lunch on the balcony after a period of uneasy quiet.

I saw something when I was picking at my salad. My fork hung in midair as I froze. Mark was there, relaxing by the pool. He wasn’t alone, though.

He was swimming with a woman too easily. They also took a careful look. Too close. I hastily ducked behind the balcony railing in panic.

I muttered, “That’s him,” and pointed shakily toward the couple. “That’s Mark… with her.”

I thought Daniel would say something, perhaps something consoling. Rather, I saw him stiffen up next to me. He dropped down next me on the balcony floor without a word. Through the railing, he looked.

“That’s my wife. Brenda.

Like two children spying on their neighbors, we squatted there with our faces inches apart, gazing through the railing’s slats. His spouse. My fiance. Together.

I looked across at Daniel. “They’re cheating on us… with each other.”

“This is like a bad sitcom.”

We strained to hear what they were saying, and I held out my hand to silence him. Brenda sounded calm and collected as if she were discussing the weather.

She explained to Mark that she intended to live off the money she would receive from Daniel after their divorce. To my horror, Mark was telling her how wonderful it would be and encouraging her.

I laughed. “Are you… rich?”

“Not rich enough for her.” He chuckled bitterly.

For a while, we sat there, taking in the madness of the circumstance. Then an idea glowed on Daniel’s face.

“Why don’t we give them a taste of their own medicine?”

“What do you mean?”

His smile gave the impression that nothing positive was about to occur.

“Let’s act as though we are deeply in love. Create a commotion. We are aware of the location of their supper this evening. Let’s provide them with a topic of conversation.

The suggestion was so ridiculous that my brain was having trouble processing it.

“That’s… ridiculous.”

“Exactly,” Daniel replied. “It’s the perfect kind of ridiculous.”

I found that to be utterly out of character, ridiculous, and juvenile. However, it was just what I need.

We plotted for the next few hours. Daniel had a keen sense of style, which surprised me. He once moaned as he glanced at my clothes.

He teasingly said, “You look like a grandmother at forty.”

“Excuse me?” I chuckled. “I thought you liked this sophisticated, mature look.”

Then, suddenly, he opened his luggage and took out a gorgeous red outfit.

“I bought this for Brenda,” he smirked and held it up toward her. “But I’m pretty sure it’ll look way better on you.”

I laughed out as I looked at the dress and then back at him. Things were going to get rather interesting.

When we got out of the taxi that night, I felt empowered for the first time in days. Daniel appeared to be on the cover of a magazine, dressed in a dapper suit, and I…

That crimson outfit, however, accomplished things I never would have imagined. I nearly lost my sense of self.

“Are you prepared?” Daniel smirked playfully and offered me his arm as he asked.

With my arm slipping through his, I answered, “As ready as I’ll ever be.”

We entered the restaurant as if it were our own. I sensed that Mark and Brenda were watching us as soon as we passed their table.

Mark’s mouth almost fell open. Brenda’s fork hung in midair as she froze. Reminding myself not to giggle, I tightened my grip on Daniel’s arm. It was flawless.

We visited their table. Daniel spoke loudly enough for them to hear him lean in.

“Should we ask them to supper with us? It’s a small world, after all.

After exchanging uncomfortable looks, Mark and Brenda reluctantly waved at us. One of the most excruciatingly delicious dinners I’ve ever had ensued.

Brenda hardly spoke at all. Mark was fidgeting in his seat, as if he would rather be somewhere else. With that endearing smile on his face, Daniel was in his element.

“All right, Mark, Brenda… “How long have you two been having fun in Spain?” he said nonchalantly.

“Uh, a few days,” Mark said in a whisper. “Just a… spontaneous trip.”

Daniel didn’t pause at all. “Oh, impulsive! I adore that. Darling, don’t you think we ought to do it sometime?”

I noticed Mark’s puzzled look and gave him a charming grin. “Of course. The key is spontaneity. However, I doubt we could surpass your escape.

Mark’s face flushed more, and he glanced at Brenda, who was having trouble maintaining her cool.

“We actually were about to leave,” Brenda stated.

The grand finale follows. Then Daniel took a tiny velvet box out of his pocket. Slowly, he unwrapped it to show a gorgeous set of diamond earrings.

“I was going to give you these, Brenda. However, I believe that they will fit my good friend here much better.

Brenda’s expression changed to one of sheer dread, but I couldn’t help but smile.

Daniel added in a suddenly serious tone, “You’ll never see a dime of my money.” “As for the rest, I believe we both understand where we stand.”

Daniel gave me a mischievous wink as he looked at me. “Shall we, sweetheart? We have a reservation at a far superior location.

Arm in arm, with our heads held high, we walked out of the restaurant. I knew I had finally let go of the life I believed I needed when I stepped onto that plane to Spain, even though it wasn’t the conclusion I had anticipated. And I discovered something much more worthwhile. I discovered who I was.
