The Debate Over Donald Trump’s Academic Records: What’s Behind the Secrecy?

Why Donald Trump doesn’t want his academic records to be released

In the past, the leader of the Republican Party has threatened to take legal action in cases that could result in his educational accomplishments or failings being made public.

In the year 2019, three years into his first term as President of the United States, Donald Trump gave an order to a lawyer to threaten officials of his high school, college, and college board with jail time if they ever released his academic record.

Since that time, the grades and accomplishments, as well as the possible failures, that the Republican leader obtained during his earlier years have been kept completely secret out of fear of legal action.

What was the mechanism that allowed Trump to issue such a decree? How is it that it has continued to this day? Second, and perhaps more crucially, what is he trying to conceal?

As directed by Trump

Michael Cohen, the 78-year-old man’s former attorney, disclosed that he had been compelled to warn Trump’s previous educational institutions about the dangers they would face if they were to publish his academic accomplishments. This revelation was made six years ago.

Cohen, who is now 58 years old, made the confession as part of his testimony to Congress. He even provided participants with an example of a letter that he prepared in response to Trump’s judgment.

According to the memo, the attorney made a threat against the president of Fordham University, which is the institution that Trump attended for two years before being transferred to the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania to finish his bachelor’s degree.

Congress was also informed by representatives from Trump’s high school that they had received a letter that was identical to the one that was described.

During that time period, the College Board and the University of Pennsylvania both declined to further on the matter.

However, it is essential to point out at this juncture that the act of sending such threatening letters was entirely unneeded.

However, according to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, it was already against the law in the United States to disclose the academic record of a student without first obtaining their permission. This had been the case for a considerable amount of time.

However, this does not mean that leaks do not frequently occur.

And for someone as controversial and prominent as Trump, perhaps he had every reason to be worried. This is especially true when one considers the numerous educational inconsistencies that surround his early life and are now in the public view…

Compared to the record of President Obama

In the past, Trump has made light of the perceived lack of education that Barack Obama, a former Democratic representative and the 44th President of the United States, had.

However, it turns out that Trump’s isn’t all that dissimilar like the other. Both he and Obama, who is now 63 years old, spent two years attending schools with a lower level of competition before being transferred to Ivy League institutions (the University of Pennsylvania for Trump and Columbia for Obama) in order to earn their bachelor’s degrees.

And despite the fact that neither of the politicians received honors upon graduation, President Obama, who is a father of two, went on to get a graduate degree with a magna cum laude from Harvard Law. Trump, on the other hand, did not.

In the years that have passed since then, Trump has publicly questioned how Obama could have ever been accepted to an Ivy League institution. This is despite the widespread belief that his own businessman father’s connections were responsible for Obama’s admission to Pennsylvania.

Does the Republican have the ability to project? It is impossible for us to say…

‘Lies’ of the highest classification

The father of five has never stopped bragging about his status as the “first in his class” at the Wharton School of Pennsylvania at the University of Pennsylvania. To tell you the truth, however, he did not even graduate with honors, as we say.

For those who are reading this from the United Kingdom, the institution awards honors based on the grade point average (GPA), and the distinguished distinction is only available to pupils who attain a grade point average of 3.40.

This indicates that Trump did not even receive a score equal to this, let alone come out on top of his class.

With that being said, this white lie wouldn’t be as big of a concern if the controversial front-man of The Apprentice hadn’t already made fun of Obama because of his grade point average without even being aware of it.
