12 dead including famous singer in plane crash off remote island
A plane disaster off Honduran waters claimed twelve victims whose lives were lost.
The Lanhsa Airlines Jetstream plane left Roatán airport before transporting passengers to mainland Honduras during Monday night.

The minister of Honduran transport announced that the aircraft containing 14 people and 3 crew members had an unexpected mechanical problem before plummeting into the water which occurred at about 0.6 miles from shore.
Civil aviation official Carlos Padilla witnessed the aircraft take flight before it abruptly turned toward the right side of the runway and crashed into the water.
The local fisherman reported to HCH television that he barely managed to avoid the crashing debris.
“The plane almost fell on us. I was fishing,” he recounted.
Among the seventeen passengers twelve passengers died but five managed to survive the crash.

Visual footage showed the desperate rescue teams scanning the water while they tried to save people. The video footage depicted an emergency extraction of a woman from the sea through stretcher use during a described rescue operation.
The authorities have published no information regarding the woman’s medical state.
Challenging underwater conditions made the rescue operations difficult to perform.
An accident site assessment proves hard because it lies beyond 30 meters (98 feet) of rocks which block both walkers and swimmers from entering the area according to Captain Franklin Borjas during his CBS interview.

Each diver participating in the rescue has no ability to see anything.
Officials declared there was just one remaining body after Monday evening.
Aurelio Martínez lost his life during the accident although he remains celebrated both as an influential politician and famous Honduran musician of the Garífuna music genre.
At 56 years old Martínez stood as a leading figure in cultivating the Garífuna music movement that originated from St. Vincent. Those who perform with Lita Ariran received their first international nod from the Kennedy Center.
In addition to being musician Aurelio Martínez maintained a political position as representative in the Honduran National Congress.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Belize offered this special tribute to his heritage: “Aurelio was a great friend of Belize and a true champion of Garífuna culture along with music.”
His departure from this world created an emptiness throughout music history yet his musical and cultural heritage will endure within the hearts that adored his artistic expressions for his nation.
Flight documents retrieved by local media outlets show that both a U.S. national and a French national together with two underage passengers were among those who boarded.
A 40-year-old citizen of France became one of the survivors who sustained injuries when the aircraft crashed while he received medical care at a San Pedro Sula hospital on the mainland.
An American citizen died in the accident according to the U.S. State Department which extended its deepest sympathy to victims’ relatives.

The officials of the United States Department of State verified the death of their fellow national in the aviation disaster. We respect the family’s privacy needs during this hard period thus will not provide any further information at this present time.
Honduran President Xiomara Castro established that she executed immediate activation of an Emergency Operations Committee which brings together numerous government departments to evaluate and support rescue operations following the devastating plane crash.
As the biggest member of the Bay Islands chain located near the Honduran shores Roatán draws masses of visitors because of its sparkling beaches alongside vibrant coral reefs. Tourism stands as one of Honduras’ main economic drivers thus the plane crash caused serious economic damage to the region.

Emergency personnel are dealing with a ‘incident’ after a Delta Airlines plane crash landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

The association of flight attendants, also known as AFA-CWA, posted the following message on Twitter: “Our union is responding to an incident that occurred in Toronto with Delta Air Lines Endeavor Flight 4819.
” A crew from the AFA was working on this flight. According to reports, there have been no fatalities. While everyone is working to gather information and support those who were involved, we ask that you refrain from making any assumptions about this incident.

In the meantime, Constable Sarah Patten of the Peel Regional Police in Ontario stated, “It is my understanding that the majority of the passengers are out and unharmed; however, we are still trying to make sure, and as a result, we are still on scene investigating.”
Flight 4819 of Delta Airlines took off from Minneapolis earlier today, and videos that are currently circulating online appear to show the aircraft flipping over on its side on a runway that is covered in a significant amount of snow.

There have been at least eight people who have been injured as a result of the collision, according to the local media, including CP24; however, the severity of these injuries has not been confirmed.
There were reportedly eighty people on board the flight.
According to the New York Post, the region surrounding Toronto received nine inches of snow over the course of the weekend. As a result, authorities were had to clear the runway on Sunday (February 16) in order to make it ready for service on Monday (February 17).

It is only a few weeks after a commercial airliner operated by American Airlines was involved in an accident in Washington, District of Columbia.
In the early morning hours of January 29, a commercial airline plane was on its way to land at Ronald Reagan National Airport when it crashed with a Black Hawk military chopper.

There were a total of three people on the helicopter, in addition to the sixty-four passengers on the airplane.
After both airplanes went down in the Potomac River, a large search was initiated to look for those who could have survived the crash. However, the search eventually evolved into a mission to recover bodies.
A disparity in the altitude measurements that were recorded by the plane and the helicopter following the collision was revealed by the recorder of American Airlines Flight 5342.

According to the NTSB, data recovered from the flight recorder inside the plane claimed it was cruising at about 325 feet, with a 25-foot margin of error on either side, despite air traffic control tower data suggesting the military helicopter was flying at an altitude of about 200 feet when it collided with the commercial plane.
