Male Student Makes a Pass at Female Professor
Jack makes advances on his professor Olivia. With the Dean’s support and his father’s connections, he is sure that nothing can stop him from achieving his goals. That is, until Olivia sets him up.
Pens scratching on paper carried across the quiet classroom setting. Olivia, the lecturer, walked across the room and paused at Jack’s desk. He sat back, slid his test paper over, and flipped it over with a nonchalant smirk on his lips.

“Professor, this is my masterpiece,” Jack said with a hint of malice in his voice.
Olivia took up the paper, thinking it would be your typical essay. Rather, she was astounded to see a vivid illustration of a couple sharing a passionate kiss, and her eyes grew wide. She looked up at Jack, who had an eat-the-canary smile on his face, and a bubble of outrage burst within her.
“Is this some kind of joke, Jack?” Olivia had a harsh voice. “Where is your essay?”
The student leaned forward and boldly met her gaze with his own. He said, “That is my essay, Olivia.” “A picture is worth a thousand words, right?”

There was no mistaking the provocative tone in his voice. Olivia could feel her cheeks getting red as she tried to keep her cool. She didn’t feel flattery. It was fury over the disregard. Her eyes flaming, she pushed the paper back onto his desk.
“I am Professor Hudson to you,” she yelled, her strong tone breaking the silence in the classroom. “And this is totally inappropriate,” she said, pointing to the drawing.
Without any regret, he laughed in answer. With a casual gesture, he leaned forward and touched her face. “I thought you’d appreciate a more… creative approach.”
Olivia’s muscles tensed and her back became rigid, causing her to straighten and pull away from his palm. “It is not acceptable. You must turn in a proper essay by the deadline to pass this class.

However, Jack simply shrugged, his smile never going away. “I’ll take my chances,” he declared calmly as he got up to leave. Olivia felt annoyed by his laughter as he walked out of the room. It reverberated behind him.
Olivia entered Dean Roberts’ office with a creak of the door and shaking palms. Looking up from his desk was the dean, a hefty guy whose face was wrinkled from years of paperwork. His little anger was visible in his frown.
“Professor Hudson, what brings you here?” With his chair leaned back, Dean Roberts questioned.

With the picture of Jack’s sketch fresh in her memory, Olivia inhaled deeply. “Jack, a student, was involved in an incident that I must report. His actions in my class today were totally inappropriate,” she said, maintaining a steady but slightly irritated tone.
The dean wrinkled his brow and crossed his fingers. “Jack? Do you mean Jack, the son of Mr. Monticello?
“Yes, that Jack,” Olivia quickly nodded in agreement. He sent in a thought-provoking drawing rather than an essay. It’s obviously harassment.
Dean Roberts let out a sigh and adopted a look of exhausted resignation. Olivia, are you aware that one of our greatest donors is Jack’s father? This department survives because of his services.”
Olivia furrowed her face in shock. “So, we ignore his behaviour because of his father’s money?”

The dean leaned forward and slightly altered his tone to sound more… convincing. Not that I’m suggesting that. However, you must look at the wider picture in this case. We must take care not to annoy Mr. Monticello.”
However, what about our institution’s standards? With agitated fists, she protested, asking, “What message are we sending if we accept this?
Dean Roberts’s expression froze. “I’ve made up my mind. Treat it with tact. And Olivia, you risk losing your job if you pursue this issue,” he said, pausing and fixing her with a stern, icy stare. Later this afternoon, I’m meeting with Mr. Monticello to show him the newly renovated library that his gifts have funded. By then, I want you to move on from this.”
She sat there in disbelief. The phrase “you lost your job” kept repeating in her head. She felt a knot of sadness grow in her stomach, but her eyes did not waver.
Olivia gave a curt “Thank you for your time, sir,” before getting up and walking out of the office. With every stride she made towards the faculty lounge, her mind raced. Although she didn’t want to lose her work, Jack’s attitude wasn’t appropriate for a university.

Olivia could not stand by and watch him bully and threaten the female teachers and students. Then she thought back to the dean’s final remarks, and a thought occurred to her. However, she was unsure if it would be effective. Everything would rely on Mr. Monticello. Was the apple dropped from the tree far away? Or did they all belong to the same flock?
With its cathedral-like awe created by its towering ceilings and aisles of books, the university library was a peaceful retreat that afternoon. Olivia waited while seated at a table. She was prepared for Jack’s approach, though she was lost in thought so much that she didn’t even notice it.
Olivia was immediately put on edge by Jack’s haughty greeting of “Hello, Professor,” which was oozing with arrogance despite her purpose.

She raised her head and displayed a tired, irritated expression. “What do you want, Jack?”
He leaned forward as he sat down after pulling up a chair. “I wanted to confirm that we have the same understanding regarding the previous misunderstanding. Dean Roberts allegedly corrected everything.
Beneath the table, her fists grew tighter. There isn’t any miscommunication. You must quit acting in such an unacceptable manner.”
Jack laughed. Olivia, hurry up. We both know that I won’t experience any negative outcomes. It is a bootlicker, Dean Roberts. Would you rather get fired for a drawing? He moved in close enough to smell her hair, but Olivia drew away, her lips pursed to contain her screams in the library.
Anger made her cheeks flush, but she knew she had to be careful. “You’re mistaken if you think you’re untouchable, Jack.”
With his usual self-assured smile, he reclined back. Yes, but I am, I see. Furthermore, what do you know? You are powerless to change it.”

Despite everything, she was fearless and determined as she gazed into his eyes. Olivia firmly stated, “Jack, you may think you have the upper hand, but this isn’t over.”
Jack got to his feet. “Well, Olivia, we’ll see. We’ll see. With his chin held high, he walked off as if he was superior to everyone else in the library.
However, Olivia caught a glimpse of a tiny movement out of the corner of her eye, and shortly after, Dean Roberts’s voice could be heard. “Oh, Mr. Monticello, I’m so sorry. I’m happy you discovered the library on your own, but allow me to demonstrate the exact changes that were made.
Olivia glanced at the two men and then briefly met the major contributor to the university’s eye. Being the richest man in their town, he was undoubtedly present when this incident occurred. However, she was unsure if he would take action.
For a brief while, Olivia stood outside Dean Roberts’s office for the second time that day. I suppose it’s time to update my resume. She pushed the door open after that. However, she gave a little lip-drop to those in front of her.
“I apologise for disturbing you,” she started to apologise. “I was told Dean Roberts was interested in seeing me. Later on, I’ll return.”
Turning, Mr. Monticello shook his head and motioned for her to stay. Mrs. Thompson, the president of the university, was the other person present in the room.
“Hold on. Professor Hudson, please take a seat,” Mrs. Thompson gestured to a chair. She spoke in a stern but not cruel tone.
Olivia sat with her head spinning. It was especially disconcerting to have Mr. Monticello around after the scene at the library. Nevertheless, she maintained some optimism.
“Professor Hudson,” Mr. Monticello said in a solemn tone, “I saw you and my son interact in the library earlier.”
Olivia’s heart faltered, then began to beat quickly. She was prepared for a rebuke, but she was unprepared for what Mr. Monticello said next.

“I’m really embarrassed by Jack’s actions. Mr. Monticello went on, “I apologise on his behalf; I had no idea he was acting in this manner.
Mrs. Thompson interjected, saying, “Dean Roberts has lost his position. It is inconsistent with the ethos of our university for him to ignore such important issues.”
Olivia gasped. She had not anticipated such a rapid response.
“Jack will be sent to a military academy starting next week,” Mr. Monticello went on. It’s about time he developed self-control and respect.”
There was a minute of silence in the room before her eyebrows shot up. It looked like the problem was fixed, but what did it mean for her personally?
“Professor Hudson, we need strong, moral leadership in the dean’s office,” Mrs. Thompson finally remarked. After looking over your resume and considering how long you’ve worked here, I think you’re the best candidate for that position.”
Olivia’s gaze expanded. “Me? Become the student dean?”
“Yes,” replied Mr. Monticello. “I noticed that you didn’t give in to my son’s behaviour. You also went to the dean to make an official grievance. Some have said that I’m not as brave. In this new period, we need someone like you to take the lead and implement the required adjustments.”
Her shoulders slumped from surprise and relief at this proposition, and she exhaled. It came with a great deal of responsibility as well as honour.
She barely had time to recover her breath before nodding. “I’ll carry it out. I’ll try my hardest.
As the new dean, Olivia started putting extensive reforms into place in the ensuing weeks. She put in place precise guidelines and protocols for dealing with accusations of harassment and other wrongdoing. Her welcoming demeanour encouraged staff members and students to voice their concerns.
Regular workshops focusing on diversity, consent, and respect changed the ethos of the university. Rather of discouraging donors, she worked nonstop, and the beneficial improvements she brought about on campus were a direct result of her dedication.
Olivia once overheard two female students discussing the changes at the institution when she was strolling through the library one afternoon.
“Teacher Alistair lost his job. One person added, “I heard he’d been offering better grades in exchange for… you know… for years.”
“I am aware! Her companion said, “I’ve heard that the starting quarterback and tight end for the football team were punished for two games after they scrawled vulgar remarks in the women’s restroom. “It’s unbelievable. Things are truly evolving.”
Olivia grinned broadly and continued to walk. Though it was only the beginning, it was a positive start.
