Seated in the main room, Arthur saw everything from his nook. He had a stroke and was confined to a wheelchair, but he was a perceptive man who took in a lot of information.

Wearing a bright red dress, Carly—his son’s love and future daughter-in-law—was chatting and laughing, attempting to come across to Ethan as a nice and considerate girlfriend.

Unaware of the true situation, Ethan was completely enamored. However, Arthur was aware that Carly wasn’t the best option for his son.

Ethan exited the room, and Carly turned to pretend to grin at Arthur. Arthur, you know that you would benefit greatly from some fresh air. However, that’s a little difficult for you, isn’t it?” she scoffed.

She then leaned in closer, whispering menacingly, “You’re just sitting there, making my life easier. It will be easy to marry Ethan and take his money, especially with Mark’s assistance. Nothing can be done by you.”

Arthur was desperate to keep Ethan safe from Carly’s schemes. Knowing that a cruel woman like Carly didn’t deserve his son, he realized he had to find a way.

Carly tried to be pleasant and brought Arthur a drink of water, but then “accidentally” poured it all over him while he sat immobile in his chair. She laughed and said, “Oh, how clumsy of me!”

Abruptly the uncomfortable silence was broken by the ringing of the doorbell. She chirped, “Oh, that’s Mark, the plumber,” and proceeded to open the door while feigning a grin.

Ethan was saddened to see his dad looking exhausted as he entered the living room. Carly and Mark acted as though they were strangers when they walked into the living room. Carly presented Ethan to Mark.

“Carly was chatting to Dad about remodeling the property. Here comes the plumber. How do you feel?” Ethan asked, receiving no response. Mark and Carly looked at each other, and Ethan let out a sigh.

Actually, Ethan, how about Mark and I quickly check out the restrooms upstairs? Have we not been considering remodeling them? She pretended to be excited as she spoke. Since Ethan didn’t see anything strange, Carly and Mark headed upstairs to have a private conversation.

When they were alone, Carly said to Mark, “Once I marry Ethan, all of this will be ours.”

Mark was intrigued. “What about Ethan?”

Carly had thought of everything. “Ethan loves me like crazy and treats me like a Goddess!” she said as she leaned in close to Mark. Getting along with Arthur is not difficult. It won’t be until it’s too late that they grasp what is going on. Let’s proceed.”

In order to obtain their money without Arthur and Ethan realizing it until it was too late, they both intended to deceive them. However, Arthur was aware of Carly and Mark’s schemes. Though he was immobile, he was keeping an eye on everything and making plans to keep his family safe.

Ethan, meanwhile, had to head out due to a work call. Carly saw Ethan go and grinned at Mark. It’s just the two of us now. We’re able to enjoy themselves.”

“Carly, we ought not to. Arthur is right there, and Ethan might return,” he remarked.

Carly chuckled. “Ethan has total faith in me. Arthur, too? Nothing can be done by him.

Then, strutting in front of Arthur, she planted a kiss on Mark.

Arthur maintained his composure, but he was overcome with hopelessness. He yearned to shield his son from a lady such as Carly. He realized he needed evidence, though. He was aware of Ethan’s deep affection for Carly and his unwavering trust in her.

Arthur’s chamber was a peaceful haven for reflection. He was astonished when he spotted Carly and Mark together in the garden one day. He’d just considered her a gold digger up until now, but now he was certain that she was also unfaithful. Arthur averted his gaze in disgust as Carly laughed hysterically and planted a kiss on Mark.

He was aware of her evil intentions, and it pained him to see his son Ethan act so naively in the face of this woman’s deceit. Arthur once tipped over a picture to catch Carly’s eye. He gave her a warning glance as soon as she took it up. Although Carly appeared a little scared, she ignored it and turned to leave.

Arthur gave warning Ethan a lot of thought. Since he was mute, he needed to find an other way. He recalled the heartfelt and genuine letters that Ethan’s mother had sent him.

Arthur believed that through those letters, Ethan would learn what true love was all about and that Carly was incapable of providing it for him.

Ethan read the letters that Arthur had a staff member put where he could. He even told Arthur that they had given him serious thought about Carly and their future together. However, he didn’t do anything further, leaving Arthur uncertain as to whether his strategy had even succeeded.

Arthur, though, continued to wait and watch, hoping that one day Ethan would realize the truth. In an effort to capture Carly and Mark in the act, he also began collaborating with the house staff to monitor them.

Carly and Mark once mistook the staff’s observation for their own one when they believed they were alone. The housekeeper, Agnes, learned that Carly was unfaithful. In order to protect Ethan and reveal Carly’s true nature, she secretly taped conversations and took pictures.

Arthur waited for the ideal opportunity to reveal the truth to Ethan. Although they knew it would pain Ethan, the house staff had to assist him.

One day, Arthur made dinner, much to everyone’s astonishment. Carly was taken aback by how animated he appeared. No one had anticipated that the man would prepare dinner while standing on his two feet. However, Arthur requested Ethan and Carly to take a seat before disclosing the sequence of events.

Arthur hinted at Carly’s dishonesty while talking about love and trust after he had given them dinner. “Ethan, my son,” Arthur remarked, “Love is based on trust.” I assume you are aware of that.

Because he misinterpreted what his father was attempting to tell him, Ethan spontaneously proposed to Carly. He said, “Carly, will you marry me?”

Shock spread across Carly’s eyes, but she quickly looked at Arthur and gathered herself. “Yes, Ethan. I will,” she answered.

Arthur then said, observing Carly’s response, that a plumber was coming to fix a sink. It was all part of his strategy to expose more of Carly’s behavior and force Ethan to face the truth about her.

Arthur rushed to answer the doorbell when it rang, believing a plumber would arrive, but it was actually Carly’s secret boyfriend, Mark.

To Mark’s surprise, Arthur was on his feet. At the door, he hesitated before gathering himself. “Um, I got a call about a clogged sink?” He spoke as he entered, drawing Arthur’s immediate attention.

Mark discovered that the obstruction was coming from his own watch while inspecting the sink. The watch by itself ought to have proved Carly’s treachery, but now that Mark was present and the watch had been located, Arthur had the ideal opportunity to come clean about Carly.

“That watch is Mark’s, son. Calmly pointing at Carly and Mark, Arthur stated, “I found it before, under your bed, probably accidentally kicked there during one of their secret meetings.”

Carly turned to Ethan for an explanation, but she was at a loss for words. Even she found her own excuses to be insincere.

Arthur continued, saying, “I’ve known for a while now about Carly’s, uh, covert operations. Seeing you thus duped hurt me, Ethan. “This is unquestionable evidence of her cheating and her intentions towards our family,” he said, pointing to the watch in Mark’s palm.

Ethan experienced a pang in his stomach at learning that Carly wasn’t faithful. Though he prayed it wasn’t true, his heart sank upon viewing the evidence.

Carly attempted to justify herself, but Ethan was not fooled. All she was doing was rushing to hide her trail. Ethan’s face was plastered with pain; he was immobile. He was shocked that Carly would turn on him in such a way.

Although he waited to obtain proof, Arthur acknowledged that he was aware of Carly’s infidelity.

Ethan begged Carly and Mark to leave, feeling hurt and misled. Being near them was unbearable for him. After they left, Ethan thanked his father for letting him see the reality. In order to expose Carly’s lies and shield Ethan, Arthur clarified that he had staged a sicker-than-actual state.

“Why didn’t you tell me sooner, Dad?”

“Ethan, I had to make sure. Agnes, our housekeeper, has further evidence. I needed you to see things as they really are.”

Ethan gave a nod, realizing now. He realized that his father had gone to great lengths to maintain Ethan’s trust as well as to expose Carly. Ethan’s appreciation and love for Arthur increased as a result.

They felt closer than ever as they sat down together. “We’ve got a lot to fix, Dad, but I’m glad we can do it together,” stated Ethan.

Arthur extended his arm and placed a touch on Ethan’s shoulder. With a solid “Together,” he spoke. “We’ll put things right, and we’ll make sure that our core values are integrity, trust, and respect. This difficult period demonstrated our strength as a team, Ethan. And nothing can sever that connection.
