Betrayal Unveiled: The Heart-Wrenching Discovery After a Day’s Work

Woman Returns From Work to Find Her Husband in Bed With Another Woman

Mary is unaware that her spouse is having an extramarital affair with a hotel maid while on a business trip in Los Angeles. When they both realise the maid is trying to ruin their lives, what will happen?

Closing his laptop and checking his watch, Michael put his commissioned artwork on wait for his next visitor. He didn’t care about the disorganised hotel room; he focused on taking a shower and getting dressed casually. His guest, Lucy the maid, arrived as there was a knock on the door.

Michael would not have slept with Lucy if he had known her true circumstances. He was blinded by his lust. After grabbing her in his arms and giving her a passionate kiss, he shut the door behind them.

Although Lucy detested Michael’s touch, her main concern at the moment was getting even. She was aware that she would not have another opportunity to exact revenge on the pair for what they had done to her.

He pulled her into the bed and whispered, “I’ve been waiting so long for Friday when you’d finally come back to me.”

“My sweetie, I’ve also been waiting. Lucy said, “I wish we could do this every day,” in spite of her disgust.

They were suddenly stopped by a loud knock on the door.

“Did you order anything?”

“No,” Lucy abruptly shook her head.

When Michael opened the door, he became pale. Mary, his wife, had returned from a business presentation without warning. She exclaimed, “Surprise!”

“Mary, my beloved wife!”

He pretended to be innocent out of fear and tried to keep Mary from going inside the bedroom where Lucy was hiding. But Mary didn’t believe what he said.

“Enough with the lying. “Where is she going?” Mary pushed past him with a snap. She was aware that he had cheated in the past.

“I don’t know who you’re talking about!” Michael remarked nonchalantly. Ignoring him, though, Mary went to the en suite bathroom. Michael was filled with fear as he realised he had just a few seconds to distract her.

“Honey, please let me know what’s happening. We ought to head over to the hotel’s eatery.

Mary threw open the restroom door and saw that it was empty. The mess on the bed suggested Michael’s covert meeting, but Lucy was nowhere to be seen.

“Look, honey, nobody’s here. You are merely tiring yourself out. Because of the strain at work, you are suspicious.”

Michael saw Mary release the tension in her body as she breathed. She put her arms around his neck and grinned at him.

She pushed back, saying, “If you love only me, prove it.”

Pushing her onto the bed, Michael murmured something inappropriate. Mary laughed, but there was a phone under the bed that started ringing.

“Whose phone is that?” Pushing his shoulders, Mary enquired.

Michael said, “Oh, uh…it’s mine,” back.

Michael reached beneath the bed in desperation, where the phone had dropped when he and Lucy were at work earlier. Lucy retrieved the phone from beneath the bed, much to his relief.

“Observe? Michael remarked, “I just changed the ringtone.” “That way, I can tell when I’m getting a work call or when my beloved Mary is phoning me.”

Mary sat up, her whole attitude became sour. Michael quickly showed her a sticker on his phone, seeing that she was starting to question him once more. “Recall that you bought it for me at a benefit event? My feelings for you haven’t altered, even though I changed the ringtone.”

It’s just peculiar. I could really smell a woman’s scent, I promise.” Mary gave a sigh.

Mary lay her head on Michael’s shoulder as he wrapped his arm around her. “No one has ever been here, and never will be. Probably just the air freshener on autopilot,” he remarked.

Mary cast a quick peek up at the small device affixed on the wall next to the bedroom entrance. She nodded, saying, “Maybe you’re right.”

Michael neatly tucked a flyaway hair behind her ear. “All you need to do is get some fresh air, shall we? Next, after you’ve recovered a little, we’ll have lunch together, and maybe after that, he smiled suggestively, “I could ‘convince’ you of my love later.”

“Okay.” Mary gave him a quick smile and a cheek kiss. “I’m going to wander around the swimming pool. I’ll return immediately.

Mary left, and Michael exhaled with relief. “That was close!” Lucy slipped out from behind the bed and exclaimed.

Lucy was pleased with her strategy against Michael’s achievement as she carried her cleaning cart down a hotel corridor early that evening. She was startled by a voice suddenly.

“Hey.” Mary stepped out of the corner.

“Hi,” Lucy answered apprehensively.

“How do you like my husband?” Lucy became pale when Mary inquired. Did Mary have any suspicions? No, that shouldn’t occur as my strategy won’t work!

“Er…what do you mean?”

“I mean, do you like him?” An icy wrath blazed in Mary’s eyes.

“Nah! Well, sort of, no. “I intended to say no,” stammered Lucy. She calmed down, “Look, he’s just an ordinary guest,” she insisted. “Personal connections are not permitted. That might result in my termination.”

Mary grinned. “Oh! I’m just kidding!”

With relief, Lucy grinned. “Did you see my husband with a guest today or last Friday?” Mary persisted.

“I didn’t see anyone, ma’am,” Lucy answered.

“I need to see the hallway security footage.”

Lucy said, “I’m sorry, but hotel policy forbids that.”

“There’s a nice tip in it for you.”

“No, I’m not able to,” Lucy argued.

“Well, in that case, I guess I’ll just have to speak to the security guard myself,” Mary replied. “I’ll just let them know that my wallet got lost. They will undoubtedly be pleased to offer me this excellent calibre of service.”

Lucy went into a panic. If the hotel security caught her on camera with Michael, she’d be even more of a problem. “D-Avoid doing that. The guard will be unable to assist you. “I’ll assist you,” she hurriedly said.

Lucy was assisted by one of her former coworkers in making it to the surveillance room. In front of the console, she sat while Mary gave the order, “Turn the footage back to around 11 this morning.”

Lucy said, “Okay,” hesitating.

She changed the security tape to show her pulling the cleaning cart down the corridor with shaky fingers. “This is nothing special,” she remarked.

“That makes sense,” Mary said, examining the monochrome footage. “Let’s watch further.”

Lucy was in the hallway dusting a painting while they watched, the seconds counting down on the timestamp.

Lucy was quick to text Michael to for help, and Mary’s phone rang at the perfect moment.

She moved aside and said, “Yeah, honey?”

Lucy smoothed her uniform and went back to Michael’s door on screen. Taking advantage of the occasion, Michael came out and gave her a passionate kiss.

Mary was too busy talking on the phone to notice the passionate kiss on the television. When Mary started rummaging through her purse for keys, Lucy’s heart raced.

Mary discovered the keys, and she looked back at the incident as Lucy shoved Michael back into his room in jest.

“To clean it, I went into the room across the hallway. A few seconds later, she said, “And there you are,” indicating Mary’s entry into the room.

Mary apologised for her mistrust and sighed. As she reached for the door, Lucy’s phone rang, and she froze.

“One more thing,” with a scowl directed at Lucy, stated Mary. Make a call to get my bags carried. I had to head out for a work trip.”

Lucy nodded and then let out a sigh of relief as Mary walked away. Now was the time for her second strategy.

Michael’s phone buzzed on the nightstand back in the hotel room, and his heart raced. The screen showed a number he was not familiar with, but he recognised it immediately. The person who uses blackmail. He inhaled deeply before grudgingly responding.

“Hello?” Michael hesitated to speak.

“My pal Michael. Are you prepared to complete our last transaction?”

With trepidation, Michael scanned the room. “Yes, indeed. I possess the funds.”

The blackmailer’s voice became threatening. “All right. You are familiar with the procedure. Michael, this is the last one. Make it worthwhile.”

Michael’s jaw tightened, causing droplets to collect on his brow. “I’ve fulfilled my half of the agreement. You’ll leave me alone after this, right?

Through the phone, the voice on the other end smiled. “If the money’s in the right account, you won’t hear from me again.”

Michael sighed and said, “You’ll get it. Give me a moment, please.”

Michael hung up the phone and shook his hands while he checked Mary’s bank account. For months, he had been embezzling money from her under the pretence of using it for his artistic costs. He defended it by saying that it was the only way to fend off the blackmailer. He required an additional $50,000 this time.

“Mary won’t notice,” he said in a low voice.

The phone buzzed again as he was ready to hang up after starting the transfer. The blackmailer returned the call. Michael simply detested the blackmailer’s synthetic voice—it was obvious they were using a voice modulation programme.

“What’s taking so long, Michael?”

“I’m working on it right now. Michael yelled, “You’re going to receive your money.

The extortionist laughed menacingly. “Recall that this is the final occasion. Your wife will have access to proof of your affair if you fail.”

Michael murmured, “I know,” in response. “Once this is done, we’re done.”

Michael couldn’t get rid of the sensation that this sinister secret would eventually come up with him as he pressed the last button to finish the transfer. After finishing, he gazed at the $0 that was staring back at him on the screen. He had no idea that it was far from finished. He could not have predicted how quickly the web of lies he had created was drawing in.

Michael had a couple beers and went back to his room. When he saw Lucy tidying up next to the bed, he felt compelled to approach.

He reached for Lucy’s hip and said, “Oh, babe, now that my wife’s gone, we have this place all to ourselves.”

Something knocked me off.

He moaned, “Not now!”

He leaned in closer to Lucy and said, “As I was saying, we have the whole night.”

But the hits kept coming.

Michael answered the door after hearing another knock, anticipating to show the person behind it the cold shoulder.

He was shocked to see Lucy at the door as well.

“Lucy? Who is in my room then?”

Dressed in the same uniform, he turned to face Mary. Fear took hold.

Mary’s eyebrows sprang upward. “Hello, husband!”

“Mary! You appear incredible,” Michael stumbled.

Michael, you’ve been exposed. She was beneath the bed this morning, I know that.” Mary gave him a growl.

Michael begged. “Honey, this is just a game. It isn’t that bad.

“You nasty jerk, this is over! In an hour, I want you out of my life and out of here!” Mary spit out.

Michael bowed in the middle of the altercation, pleading for forgiveness.

However, Mary now focused on Lucy. “It’s time to fire someone,” she scoffed.

Lucy giggled, then grinned despite the threat. Yeah, I’m not that concerned. Since my sister Samantha has now received justice at last. Life sometimes completes a circle,” she remarked cryptically.

As Lucy walked out, Michael and Mary shared a bewildered look. The realisation came to them gradually. Lucy’s sister, Samantha, was their former maid. Their meagre earnings from Samantha’s low-paying job as the couple’s maid and Lucy’s odd occupations kept them impoverished.

That was prior to Samantha’s pregnancy and her husband’s abandonment. During a miscommunication, Mary had once discovered Michael and Samantha cuddling in their bedroom and assumed right away that they were having an affair.

Michael had the opportunity to defend Samantha’s name, but he chose to disregard the defenceless woman by fabricating allegations that she was making unwelcome approaches towards him. In order to hide his true affair with a different woman, he did it. Mary also disregarded Samantha’s advice.

When Samantha’s health began to decline and she was unable to find another work, she was unable to pay for treatment and ultimately lost her child. She eventually took her own life because she was unable to cope with losing her child. Lucy was unaware of the hardships her sister had endured until she eventually got Samantha’s farewell letter.

Michael came to the conclusion that Lucy was the blackmailer. However, he was powerless to take action. He was helpless and had lost everything.

Relieved that she had not let her sister down, Lucy left the hotel without harbouring any resentment. She muttered, “I got your revenge, Sammy,” as she cast her eyes to the heavens. She made the decision to give the illicitly obtained money to an organisation that helps orphans.
