Double Betrayal: When Infidelity Unveiled More Than Expected
I Found Out That My Wife Cheated on Me, But What My In-Laws Did Shocked Me Even More
I had no idea that the information I had learned about my wife’s infidelity was just the tip of the iceberg regarding our clandestine relationship. I was prepared to take a stand and exact retribution because I knew that more than betrayal was in store for me.

I made the decision to give our home office a spring cleaning on a wet Saturday morning. Much dust had settled in there because our housekeeper and everyone else were not let inside. At that point, I discovered some nicely bound letters stashed below the desk’s middle drawer.
One by one, my quivering fingers opened them till my blood ran cold. My spouse was in a relationship. When she came into the office to get the documents she required for a meeting in an hour, shock still ran through my system.

When she saw me sitting behind the desk with the letters all over the place, she stopped cold. Although I couldn’t say the same, her mouth opened but nothing came out.
You have been unfaithful to me for a year, Lucille? A YEAR???? I yelled. “How could you harm us, me included? Do you hear me when I say that I will not put up with this? I don’t care who your family is. Everyone believes that your family is so honorable and flawless; just wait until they learn the truth!”
I rushed outside, hopped in my car, and drove off. I didn’t know where I was heading at first, but it didn’t really matter. All I wanted was to get out of that place and away from her.
Lucille called me a couple of times, but I never answered. I needed time to ponder, and I also didn’t want to talk to her.

I had decided by the time I got back home. My desire was for a divorce. I made myself a drink and went to speak with Lucille while she was in the kitchen. I firmly remarked, “Lucille, we need to talk,” but she hardly raised her head from chopping veggies.
“You had been unfaithful to me for a while, and when I discovered it through your obscene love letters, you didn’t even express regret or shame. To put an end to rumors, I will be filing for divorce tomorrow and making a statement.”

For the first time since I went into the kitchen, Lucille looked up at me. With a flat tone, she added, “We can work something out; starting divorce proceedings won’t be in anyone’s best interest.”
You won’t alter my mind, especially after what you just said,” I shot back, turning to exit the kitchen. “The only thing we will work out from here is a divorce,” I replied. As I climbed the stairs to our bedroom to prepare a suitcase, I could hear the carrot chopping sounding quietly resume, and it unnerved me for reasons I would soon discover.

I grabbed a suitcase from the closet and began packing, but it was an envelope on my nightstand that got my attention. My mail was usually placed on my bedside table by our housekeeper, but this envelope didn’t appear to have been mailed and simply had my entire name on it.
The calligraphy on the envelope looked familiar, even though I had never seen it before. My fingers cautiously pulled the paper open, revealing a note.

We have been advised that you have reconsidered the value of your marriage because to Lucille’s infidelity. I want you to think very carefully about what you should do next because the family’s business relationships could suffer irreversibly if the public finds out about the problem.
You joined Lucille’s family after you got married. In light of that, we have a proposal.

Additionally, if you choose to stay in the marriage and work through its problems, there is a $1 million check in the envelope for you to do with as you please. According to the prenuptial agreement, you will not receive any money in the event of a divorce, and it will be difficult to locate a place to work and call home after that.

I was astounded. They were attempting to intimidate and bribe me, but their money would not make the situation better. Enraged, I went back downstairs to confront Lucille about her family, but as I down the stairs, I heard her chatting on the phone, and I came to a complete stop.

Lucille angrily said, “I don’t know if he’d seen it yet, mother.” “And no, I didn’t say anything about you approving the affair.”
A beat skipped in my heart. Family members of Lucille were aware of the affair and assisted her in hiding it. Feeling even more deceived, I stormed down the remaining steps and walked fiercely at Lucille.
“Is your affair known to your family? What sort of household is this, that is ill? How do you make your living? Do you not even have a conscience?

Lucille spat back icily, having had about as much as she could handle: “Yes, they know.” Their assistance in concealing the affair has been ongoing. His family has known my family for a long time, and they are quite fond of him. They never have and never will like you.”
I realized I was in over my head at that moment. Even though I was deeply hurt by the betrayal, it just strengthened my resolve to exact revenge, and I began to formulate a plan.

I left as planned, packing my luggage and texting Lucille to let her know that I would consider the letter and its ramifications over the next three days—enough time to hone my strategy. I then gave Lucille a call.

Hello, Lucille. I’ve come to the conclusion that your parents are correct after giving the matter considerable thought. I’m going home tonight because if this becomes public, it will be disastrous for everyone concerned.”
She remained silent, but I could feel the pressure of the circumstance leave her right away. Back home, the next few days passed without incident until it was time to start my new awareness campaign.

You see, Lucille knew I hadn’t forgotten that she had cheated or that her family had supported her when she learned about the campaign.
My campaign centered on the ways that powerful families misuse their influence and poison the lives of others around them. The daring action made Lucille’s family’s acts public and gave victims who had been silent the confidence to speak up, igniting a conversation about more important subjects like honesty and openness.

My life took an immediate turn for the better. The campaign was a huge success, I got my comeuppance, and a national corporation extended a fantastic employment offer to me. This entailed leaving Lucille and her family behind and moving to a different region of the nation.

A few months later, I am happy than ever, helping others through my campaigns and finally making the impact I have always desired. At first, I was tired, but thankful.
At least I didn’t find out about my husband’s infidelity on Instagram, as I’d read happened to this kind woman who had recently given birth. At least she got her comeuppance too.
