Conan O’Brien Takes a Bold Jab at Trump and Putin During Oscars Speech
Conan O’Brien makes defiant dig at Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Oscars speech
Conan O’Brien, host of the 2025 Oscars, poked fun of Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
During the 97th Academy Awards, Conan O’Brien made a crude joke about Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
The meeting swiftly fell into pandemonium after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accepted an invitation to visit President Trump’s official house on Friday, February 28.

The ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which started when the Russians invaded Ukraine in February 2022, was one of the main subjects of discussion.
The BBC reports that 95,000 Russian military personnel have lost their lives in the conflict, while The Kyiv Independent reports that more than 46,000 Ukrainian soldiers have lost their lives.
Presidents from all around the world, including Trump, are eager to stop the war because of the thousands of lives lost.
But when Trump warned Zelenskyy that he was “gambling with World War 3,” the Friday meeting swiftly deteriorated into mayhem.
Trump shouted, raising his voice: “You have no right to tell us how we should feel. It’s going to feel great. We will feel incredibly strong and happy. You’ve put yourself in a pretty horrible situation, and you’re not in a good one right now.
“At this moment, you do not possess the cards. You begin to have cards with us… Millions of people’s lives are on the line! World War Three is a gamble for you! World War III is a gamble for you. Additionally, your actions are quite disrespectful to this nation.”
The Oscars aren’t afraid to talk politics, as we’ve grown to expect over the years.
“Anora’s doing great tonight,” host O’Brien added while talking about Anora’s performance thus far at the Oscars. Two prizes. The present drama surrounding President Trump is obviously a reference to the statement, “I think Americans are finally ready for someone to stand up to a powerful Russian.”
After his visit to Washington, Zelenskyy used social media to voice his opinions after the televised meeting.
“Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit,” he posted on Twitter. Thank you to the American people, Congress, and @POTUS. We are working specifically to bring about the just and durable peace that Ukraine needs.

“We had a very meaningful meeting in the White House today,” Trump wrote in a message posted on his social media account, Truth Social. Under such strain and fire, a lot was learned that would never be understood without dialogue.
I have concluded that President Zelensky is not prepared for peace if America is involved because he believes our involvement offers him a significant edge in negotiations. It’s remarkable what comes out through passion.
“I desire peace, not advantage. He disregarded the beloved Oval Office of the United States of America. When he is ready for peace, he can return.
The most startling moments at the Oscars
On the red carpet, Angelina Jolie and her brother share a kiss (2000).
On the red carpet following the event, Jolie’s affectionate homage to her brother James Haven following her win for Best Supporting Actress for Girl, Interrupted took a far more unusual turn.

“I’m in shock, and I’m so in love with my brother right now,” Jolie added in her victory speech.
“I know he’s thrilled for me since he just held me and declared his love for me. And, well, I’m grateful for it.
So far, so good, but after the ceremony, the couple shared a kiss in front of photographers on the red carpet.
James remarked, “I did not give Angie a French kiss,” in reference to the 2007 incident. It was a simple, beautiful thing. She was going to Mexico to wrap up the filming of Antonio Banderas’ Original Sin.
“I kissed her on the lips and congratulated her on winning the Oscar. It broke and became quite popular.
When Adrien Brody wins Best Actor (2003), he shocks Halle Berry with a kiss.
When Brody was nominated for Best Actor the last time, he surprised Berry and everyone else by kissing her passionately while she gave him the trophy.
In 2017, Berry stated: “I thought, ‘What the f**k is happening right now?'” That’s what I was thinking of.
“I was there the year before and I know the feeling of being out of your body, I just f**king went with it,” she added, expressing empathy for how the moment might have gone to Brody’s head.
In an interview with Variety during this year’s Brutalist campaign trail, Bordy described the current state of affairs as follows: “We live in a very conscious time, which is a wonderful thing.”
“And I never intend to hurt anyone’s feelings in anything I do, have done, or would have done.”
Idina Menzel’s name is completely ruined by John Travolta (2014).
John Travolta’s name is difficult for most people to pronounce, whereas Idina Menzel’s name is easy for most.
When he invited her to perform onstage, the Grease icon ended up referring to her as Adele Dazeem. It’s unclear how exactly he came up with that pronunciation.
“I’ve been beating myself up all day,” Travolta later said in a statement after expressing regret. What would Idina Menzel say, I wondered then? ‘Let it go, let it go!’ she would exclaim.
“I am thrilled that Frozen won two Oscars on Sunday night, and Idina is incredibly talented!”
The 2017 La La Land and Moonlight disaster
Best Film, the night’s most coveted prize, was set to be revealed back in 2017.
The Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone musical La La Land, which was seen as the clear favorite to win, was declared the winner by Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.
Jordan Horowitz, a producer on the movie, was presented another envelope revealing that they had not won after all, two and a half minutes after the La La Land team had begun their acceptance remarks.
He said, “There’s a mistake.” “You guys won Best Picture, Moonlight. This is serious business.
It turned out that earlier in the evening, Emma Stone for La La Land received the envelope for Best Actress, which Beatty had somehow received.
It became a humiliating event for everyone. “I noticed the commotion, but I was speechless when the result was altered,” said Barry Jenkins, the filmmaker of Moonlight. That has never happened to me before.

The global slap that was heard in 2022
After presenter Chris Rock made a foolish joke about the Men in Black star’s wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Smith stormed onto the stage and thrashed him, making it maybe the most dramatic moment in Oscar history.
In response to her shorn head, Rock remarked on stage, “Jada, can’t wait for G.I. Jane 2.” Since Jada has been transparent about her battles with alopecia, many people saw this as a slight.
Smith stormed onto the platform, slapped Rock, and then yelled at him, “Don’t f**k say my wife’s name.”
The bright side of all of this was that Smith was prohibited from going to the Oscars for ten years, even though he later that night uncomfortably accepted the Best Actor prize.
“One of the things about that moment, I just didn’t realise, I wasn’t thinking, but how many people got hurt in that moment,” Smith said when he repeatedly expressed regret for his actions in the months that followed.
