Colin Egglesfield, a Three-Time Cancer Survivor, Opens Up About an Emotional Moment
Three-time cancer survivor Colin Egglesfield shares why he ”broke down”
The actor Colin Egglesfield, who starred in All My Children, recently talked about his three battles with cancer.
The 52-year-old celebrity revealed that after concealing his initial diagnosis, he “broke down,” which led to a profound lesson about strength, vulnerability, and the value of getting help.
Colin Egglesfield reached an emotional breaking point in 2006 while filming a sequence for his character Josh Madden on the set of All My Children, a part he had only been cast in six months earlier.

The 52-year-old actor underwent surgery just two days after receiving a diagnosis of severe testicular cancer. He also received post-surgical radiation therapy for several months following a full day of filming.
He kept everything a secret from the producers and his co-stars the entire time.
“I decided to be brave and bold after I began to rely on my acting training.” During the March 20 episode of Let’s Be Clear, a podcast created by the late Beverly Hills, 90210 star Shannen Doherty, he declared, “I choose to be Maximus from Gladiator.”
The Something Borrowed star opened out about how his fight with testicular cancer progressed quickly and how the emotional toll of the diagnosis affected him even though he tried to keep a strong front.
“Broke down”
When his filming schedule changed and he had to reschedule his radiation times in order to shoot his character’s sequences in the afternoon, he reached a breaking point.
“I went to my radiation treatment, which I had scheduled for the morning, and then I went to work.”
Egglesfield, who was listed as one of People magazine’s “Sexiest Men Alive” in 2005, had everything fall apart one day while filming on site.
The actress remembered, “I tried to do my scenes, but I started feeling tired and sluggish and just sweaty and hot.” “Colin, are you okay?” the then-director asked me as he approached me. You don’t look very nice. And as soon as I realized I could no longer contain it, I just started crying.
The actor from Melrose Place hid his therapy for three months in the hopes that it would not have an impact on his personal or professional life.

“I kept it a secret at work. It’s testicular cancer; it’s man things. And I at last understood that I couldn’t accomplish this on my own. When the burden of secrecy eventually lifted, he stated, “I needed to tell people.”
“Everyone at All My Children showed up as soon as they learned about it, and they offered to drive me to my doctor’s appointments, accompany me to assist, and bring me food, which really helped me feel supported to be able to go through this experience.”
His adventure was far from ended.
“Courage”
According to Parade, the Michigan native discovered the disease had migrated to his second testicle the next year.
The celebrity most recently revealed that he had prostate cancer, his third bout of the disease.
Egglesfield posted some pictures of himself in the hospital to Facebook, along with a message explaining his decision to dedicate himself to “resilience, faith, courage, grace, and inspiration.”
His post on January 20, 2025, stated that he “selected to be proactive and have surgery.” “The beginning of this year hasn’t been the easiest, but…this is another opportunity to decide who I choose to be in the face of uncertainty and challenges in my most recent cancer diagnosis,” he wrote.
“It’s still a terrifying experience.”
In a February 24 post, Egglesfield declared that he was “cancer free for the third time.”

He writes in the article, “I have to constantly remind myself that it’s acceptable to feel scared and anxious and that it’s brave to ask for help when you need it.”
Egglesfield openly admitted during the podcast that finding out “you have cancer for a third time” is “still a scary experience.”
“However, after going through this for the third time, I’ve come to the realization that I’m more capable and willing to share with others what I’m going through and what I need.”
He remarked, “So many people have been able to show up to support me along this journey, which has made it an incredible experience.” Therefore, I would urge you to respect yourself, remember who you are, and seek for help when you need it, regardless of where you are or what you’re going through.
“It is actually courageous, and it requires strength to ask for support,” Egglesfield continues, doubling back on his pre-surgery social media statement.
