Unplanned Surprise: A Forgotten Phone Unveils a Heartwarming Message

Man Goes to Work and Forgets Phone at Home, Wife Hears His Voice Mail where Boy Says ‘Hi Dad’

When Alex goes for work without remembering to take his phone with him, his wife Amanda unintentionally listens to a voicemail from an unfamiliar youngster addressing Alex as “Dad.” Though she quickly learns that Alex’s deceit goes far deeper, she still believes he is cheating on her. Amanda will do whatever it takes to make sure Alex is held accountable.

“Alex, you’re forgetting something!” While her husband was making his way to the front entrance, Amanda called him.

“Oh my god. Regards, sweetie. Without you, how would I manage?” He gave her cheek a kiss and removed the wallet. “I apologize for the hectic morning, but I’ll do my best to wrap up early so we can hang out later.”

After saying goodbye to Alex, Amanda completed a few tasks and took a nap on the couch. Amanda heard Alex’s ringtone from somewhere nearby while she was watching TV. Amanda discovered Alex’s phone by peeking beneath the sofa cushion.

There was no number displayed on the caller ID. The call went to voicemail just as Amanda was going to answer it. The voice of a young boy came over the device:

“Hey, Dad! Even though I’m sure you’re already on your way, I just wanted to let you know that I’m waiting! Please arrive as soon as possible.”

“Dad?” Amanda repeated the word, feeling a shiver run down her spine.

Since Amanda didn’t know the password to unlock Alex’s phone, she was unable to return the call from the unknown number. She started to suspect Alex had cheated on her, and her heart fell. To try to calm her thoughts and emotions, she gave a call to Jerry, Alex’s assistant.

“Hello, Jerry,” she addressed him. “My name is Amanda. Has Mr. Gibbs made his appearance yet?

Jerry answered, “I think there’s a misunderstanding here, Mrs. Gibbs.”

“Today, Mr. Gibbs is not present. At meetings, I’m covering for him.”

Although Amanda’s heart fell, she remained calm. She covered her face with her hands as the call came to an end. Amanda cherished Alex. Although Alex’s absence from work and the boy who had called raised doubts in her mind about his honesty, she still wanted to believe him.

Amanda was startled to hear tires from a car on the gravel outside the home. Alex barged in and asked whether she had seen his phone as soon as the front door snapped open.

Amanda felt her blood boil. She wanted to confront him then and then, but she knew that if he was truly cheating on her, he would quickly tell a falsehood and become suspicious. Rather, she got up from the couch and gave him a smile while covering his phone.

“I’ll check the bedroom!” stated Amanda.

She made a hasty retreat to their bedroom, appearing to have discovered the phone there when she reappeared a short while later. After expressing her gratitude, Alex hurried out once more. Amanda escorted him over to his car and slipped her GPS-enabled fitness bracelet into the pocket of the door.

After waving good-bye, Amanda hesitated a short while before following Alex.

Initially, Alex took his customary route to work. Amanda felt terrible about questioning him, but then he abruptly turned away. After twenty minutes, Alex pulled up to a small property in a town fifteen miles away from their residence.

Amanda stopped her car. She watched as Alex opened his trunk, took out a gift package, and went inside. When Alex came back with a small boy, her eyes widened in terror.

Marching to the next door residence, Alex unlocked the door and let the boy in. Amanda crept up on them and looked through the windows of the living room. Watching Alex enfold the youngster in his arms and plant a peck on his cheek made her stomach churn.

Alex, what’s going on? Who is this young person?” Amanda stormed inside to face her husband, yelling.

“Daddy, who’s she?” Alex looked at her in disbelief as the youngster questioned.

Amanda gave them a glare.

“Alex, why are you being called Daddy by this boy? You had better not lie since I witnessed it all!”

After sending Caleb into a different room, Alex turned to look at Amanda.

“Amanda, he’s my son,” Alex acknowledged. “I was afraid, but I should have told you sooner. My second family is mine. While his mother was at work, Caleb spent time with a neighbor.”

After a moment, she said, “Wow,” trying not to choke on her tears. “So, this is the crucial gathering you were discussing? Alex, how long has it been like this? I thought the boy looked old.

“Four years,” he finally admitted. “I apologize. I never meant to cause you harm. I realize my actions were incorrect. You are free to divorce me. I’ll give you everything, even half the property. We’re still able to get along well.”

“You’ve really thought this through, huh?” Amanda gave a hiss. “Our marriage dates back many years! How could you treat us like this? I cherish you.”

Alex gave a head shake. “No, Amanda, you don’t. Our relationship has devolved into little more than reliance. If I could, I would rectify this, but for the time being, all I can do is give you a path out of this mess. Without me, you are free to continue living your life.

“Oh god, Alex!” She scoffed, repulsed. “Maybe we should get a divorce so you may start a new family and live happily ever after? No woman is able to accept her husband’s adultery and move on without incident! This will not get away from you!”

After driving home in tears, Amanda took a bottle of wine and went to her bedroom. Dylan, Amanda’s adolescent son, sat next to her and inquired as to what was wrong as she was considering ways to win her husband back.

Saying, “Your Dad cheated on me,” she drank the alcohol.

“I apologize, Mom. Dylan said, “I should have told you about it sooner.”

Amanda gulped down the drink almost. “Previously told me? Dylan, what are you trying to hide from me?”

He admitted, “Dad…he told me about his other family.”

“I found it hard to believe. We were concerned you wouldn’t take it well, so I asked him to tell you the truth.”

“You should have told me, Dylan!” Unable to accept that her son understood everything, Amanda lash out. “Instead, you kept me in the dark, and I feel so betrayed right now!”

“Mom, I was guarding you! I will always be there for you because I adore you. Mom, I’ll make sure you’re happy. Believe me.” His hand touched hers, but Amanda pushed it away.

Dylan, what gave you the impression that covering up an unpleasant fact for your dad would keep me safe? Now my whole life is ruined. Both of you are traitors! I want you gone from here. Leave now!”

Dylan abruptly left the house, leaving Amanda alone herself. She did not pursue him. Making Alex crawl back to Amanda was all that mattered. Before long, she had a thought.

Amanda took a car to work with Alex. After talking her way past his assistant, she started looking through certain papers. She eventually turned to look at the safe beside to the fake Pico tree in the corner. It was password locked, but she was kneeling in front of it.

Amanda attempted a number of passwords without luck. Her eyes fell to the picture frame on Alex’s table. The safe unlocked when she tried to enter Dylan’s birthdate! After obtaining the proof that Alex had avoided paying taxes, she left.

She called Alex and said, “I want to meet you,” while concealing the paperwork. “I went through the safe in your office, so if you don’t agree, you’ll go to jail!”

Amanda was correct when she predicted that Alex would chase after what she had revealed to him. In less than half an hour, he arrived.

He roared into the home, asking, “What are you planning, Amanda?”

She threw a copy of the paperwork in front of him. “If you don’t leave your other family and return to me, I’m taking these to the cops!”

“Jesus!” he exclaimed, looking over the documents.

“This is unbelievable…Amanda, we could never have paid for Dylan’s surgery if I hadn’t taken this action. And you’re using that against me right now?

“It won’t matter to the cops why you did it. Get ready to rot in prison or leave your second family!” She put him in danger.

“I can’t believe you are doing this…” Alex let out a sigh of despair and shook his head.

“AND I CAN’T BELIEVE IT EITHER, MOM!”

Dylan was standing by the door. Amanda noticed her son’s pallid face and recognized the horror of what she had done, but he moved away from her.

“Mom, stay away from me. What you just said amazes me! I’m still here today because of the surgery I had, thanks to Dad. I want no longer to know you!” Dylan whirled around and raced from the house.

“Are you happy now?” Alex gave her a scowl. “Amanda, do whatever the heck you want. I will not go to jail for the “crime” of saving my son’s life! However, I will never return to you.” He left with an angry Alex.

Amanda sobbed the entire night. Now that her son detested her, Alex was solely to blame. He had ruined their family and deceived her. He wasn’t entitled to a tranquil life. Amanda came up with a cunning scheme as time passed.

Amanda went to the casino where she used to work as a croupier the following day and requested to meet Mr. Rodriguez, her old supervisor. A few minutes later, she walked into his office.

“Amanda, my dear! Greetings! Greetings!” Mr Rodriguez got up to give her a handshake. “I never thought you’d be back here. Is everything in order? Take a seat. Please have a seat.”

“I also never imagined that I would be coming back here in this form, yet…She stated, “I want you to get in touch with some of your…’people’…for me,” cutting right to the chase. “I want to hire a hitman.”

Mr. Rodriguez became solemn. “But to whom? You’re an old pro, sweetie. I gather the information from you and get my guys to work on it.”

Amanda laid Alex’s picture down on the surface.

“This is Alex, my spouse. Create the appearance of an accident. It’s up to you: car crash, fire, suicide. Finances won’t be an issue. You may be confident of it.”

Mr. Rodriguez first glanced at Amanda, then at the picture. “Darling, I know someone who is exactly right for this job. My boyfriend is going to get back to you.”

Amanda was contacted by the contract killer a few days later, telling her to meet him at the park. Amanda showed up on schedule and took a seat on the bench the murderer had indicated. After fifteen minutes or so, a man in black took a seat next to her.

He said, “Did you bring the money?”

“Obviously. This.” Amanda gave him a garbage bag that had $20,000. “Pretend it was an accident! No matter how cruelly he passes away, please make sure I’m not suspected by the police! Above everything, he ought not to live!”

Lifting up, the man shook his head. “I feel sorry for you.”

Amanda wasn’t sure what he was saying until another man materialized next to her. She was completely taken aback when he showed her his police badge and put handcuffs on her.

“YOU ARE UNDER ARREST for conspiring to commit the murder of your husband, Alex, Mrs. Gibbs.”

In a panic, Amanda turned to face the hired killer, perplexed. But when she ran into Dylan and Alex by the police cruiser, everything became evident.

“Are you serious, Amanda? For your senseless retaliation, you hired a hitman? Just consider the consequences if the proprietor of the casino had chosen not to call the police.” Alex gave a bewildered shake of his head. “Do you believe it now…that you don’t love me?”

Amanda stared at Dylan, and his eyes were filled with sadness. She urged the cop sitting next to her to latch the car door while she bent her head and avoided looking into his eyes.
