Liv Tyler Opens Up About the Surprising Moment She Learned Who Her Real Dad Was
Liv Tyler recalls moment she learnt Steven Tyler was her dad
Tucking her teddy bears in and talking to the poster of Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler that hung on the wall over her bed was part of Liv Tyler’s nightly ritual as a child.
She “loved him so deeply” even though she was unaware that he was her father. Liv received some shocking news on her ninth birthday that would completely upend her world.

With her leading parts in movies like Stealing Beauty (1996), Empire Records (1995), and 1988’s Armageddon—which featured Aerosmith’s famous song “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”—Liv Tyler, now 47, made her breakthrough in the 1990s.
The singer, model, and actor spent her early years figuring out her father’s mysterious paternity before becoming famous herself.
At first, she thought her father was singer-songwriter Todd Rundgren of the band Utopia.
Rundgren lived with her mother, Bebe Buell, who had been Playboy’s playmate since November 1974, in their apartment in New York City. When he went on tour, she was often left alone.

In an interview, Buell attributed her several affairs to the non-monogamy trend of the 1970s, saying, “I think every little girl would like exclusivity, but that wasn’t how it was.
” The 1970s weren’t the time for you if you were a jealous person. And I reasoned that I would date as well if Rundgren did. My boyfriends were quite kind.
As the quintessential groupie, Buell dated legendary musicians such as David Bowie, Iggy Pop, Mick Jagger, Elvis Costello, Jimmy Page, and Aerosmith leader Steven Tyler, whom she met during Rundgren’s tour.
A gift for life
She gave Buell a lifelong memento from her affair with Tyler in 1976.
Although Rundgren was aware that Liv was probably Tyler’s child, he claimed that he and Buell had agreed that he would be Liv’s father and that “if it ever became an issue, we’d tell her at 18.” Liv was born in July 1977.
To avoid exposing a vulnerable young Liv to her biological father’s uncontrollable addictions, it was decided to keep it a secret.
Rundgren gave her his last name, signed her birth certificate, and reared her as he had.
Regarding Rundgren, the actress remarked, “I’m really appreciative of Todd’s decision to act as a father figure to me.

“I know this kid might not be mine, but I still want to be her father” is a significant statement for a man to make. dad was always a very dependable, caring presence in my life, even if dad and my mother weren’t together.
Shirley Temple
The Jersey Girl star, who was deeply involved in the music industry, was often with her parents’ pals.
When Rundgren was eight or nine years old, she met Tyler during one of her concerts, and she claimed that Tyler bought her a Shirley Temple at the bar.
Even though she didn’t know who he was at the time, she felt something after meeting him.
Oddly enough, I fell in love with my dad when I first met him without realizing he was my father. His poster is now on my wall.

On the wall, I would converse with him. Additionally, I would tuck the stuffed animals he gave me into bed before getting into it.
Liv remarked, “I loved him so much.” “I believe Steven is my father,” I wrote in a diary entry or something that my mom possesses.
For the young Liv, the strange enigma was beginning to take shape.
She saw Mia, Tyler’s daughter with Cyrinda Foxe, who was born a year after the actress herself, at an Aerosmith show.
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy actor told the Guardian, “I was literally like looking at my twin when I saw her standing at the side of the stage at a concert.”
When siblings get together
Mia and Liv talked about the poignant moment at the Guns n’ Roses concert, where they were opening for Aerosmith, in an episode of the iHeart radio podcast called “Sibling Revelry With Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson.”

“Welcome to the Jungle,” their song, was just getting started. “[Liv and Buell] had traveled to the gig at Great Woods,” Liv began.
“We got tickets, and we went to the audience, and we were standing, and Guns n’ Roses was playing, and I was so excited because I just like loved Guns n’ Roses,” she said, fighting back tears. Additionally, there was a single girl standing on the side of the stage.
As if we were wearing identical outfits. Both of us had perms, such as pink frosty lipstick and spiral perms. Both of us were dressed in black leggings, Reebok high-top sneakers, and an Aerosmith concert t-shirt.
“When I looked, I thought, ‘Wait, that’s me.'” It was quite strange. She said, “I literally thought I was seeing double when I looked in the mirror.”
When I turned to face my mother, she broke down in tears. “Is Steven my dad?” I asked my mom as she sobbed. then she simply exploded.
She led me to a bench in an open-air amphitheater, where we sat while she told me the entire tale in the most heartfelt, exquisite manner.
The mother of three maintains a tight relationship with both fathers, describing them as “wizards or unicorns.” At their core, they are musicians. They simply think differently. In a way, their quirks have helped me become more realistic and normal.
