Tom Cruise has ‘no role’ in 17-year-old daughter’s life, per reports
According to many sources, Tom Cruise and his daughter, Suri Cruise, continue to have a strained relationship.
The actor, who is 61 years old and stars in Mission: Impossible, has reportedly not been in contact with his daughter, who is 17 years old, for a considerable amount of time and is not actively involved in her life, as reported by the Daily Mail.
Born in April of 2006, Suri Cruise is Tom Cruise’s daughter from his former relationship with the actress Katie Holmes. Suri Cruise was named after her father.
One that is fraught with tension
In the years that followed the breakup of the partnership in 2011, the connection between the father and daughter became increasingly strained. Tom revealed in transcripts from a defamation case that he filed against Bauer Media in 2012 that he had not seen Suri for three months immediately following his separation from Katie, who is now 45 years old. These transcripts were obtained by RadarOnline.
In the course of the deposition that was conducted in connection with the lawsuit for fifty million dollars, Tom admitted that his involvement with Scientology had caused tension in his relationship with Suri. Tom stated that he believed that Katie had left him “in part to protect Suri from Scientology” when he was questioned about whether or not Katie had left him.
According to the Daily Mail, the laws of the Church of Scientology, which restrict members from mingling with nonbelievers, are said to have contributed to the troubled connection that Tom has with his daughter, who is now a teenager.
Suri’s life is not influenced by Tom Cruise in any way.
Leah Remini, a former Scientologist, stated in an interview with the New York Post that Scientology regarded Katie as a “suppressive person,” which is synonymous with an adversary. This led Tom to believe that he could not possibly be connected to Suri.
To divert Suri away from her mother and toward Scientology, Remini hypothesized that Tom’s goal would be to wait until Suri is older in order to make an attempt to acquire her. On the other hand, according to insiders, the actor does not “play any role in [Suri’s] life at this time.”
In spite of the constant drama that involves her father, Suri appears to have a life that is quite normal with her mother in New York City. Numerous photographs have been taken of her over the years, showing her taking a leisurely stroll through the city and spending time with a select group of close friends.
“My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now,” Holmes said in an interview with Town & Country in 2017. She underlined her wish to provide Suri with a “stable” childhood.
Her next statement was as follows: “It is of the utmost importance that I am present and that she has a secure and innocent childhood.” It is a privilege to be able to do what I do, but there is nothing in the world that is more satisfying than seeing your child achieve success.
